Carl Alford - BSc (Hons) Comp & ITTechnical Director
Carl is our Senior Civil Engineering/Infrastructure consultant and our Technical Director at Benchmarq Professional Services.

Carl has over 20 years’ experience working on civil and structural engineering projects including roads, tunnels, bridges, utility services and airports using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D and other industry specific solutions for the 3D modelling, design and drawing production associated with these projects.

Using Civil 3D since its launch in the UK, Carl has provided training, consultancy and ground modelling services to a wide range of engineering and construction customers in the private sector as well as various departments in UK local government authorities.

Carl has worked on a number of significant projects within the UK including consulting to the Olympic Delivery Authority in implementing and managing their CAD and GIS system, production of drawings on the Heathrow Terminal 5 project and Heathrow Express Rail Link.

Phil Pinder - BSc CEng MICEDirector
A Chartered Civil Engineer by profession, Phil has many years experience in the application of technical software to the solution of engineering problems.

Graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering from Thames Polytechnic in 1978, Phil spent the early part of his career working for consulting engineers and contractors on road and bridge projects across the UK.

A move into computing followed and over the last 30 years Phil has sold, supported, trained and delivered consultancy services to a wide range of customers in a variety of industry sectors including:

• Highway and Railways
• Mining and mineral extraction
• Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering
• Aerospace and Defence
• Oil and Gas
• Local Government
• Commercial

Anastassios Anastahas - BSc (Mech Eng), MSc (CAD)Senior Technical Consultant
Anastassios (Tassos) joined Benchmarq in March 2016.

He is a Registered Mechanical Engineer with more than 25 years’ experience within the AEC industry.

Anastassios holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering from Brighton Polytechnic, 1985 and a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Aided Design (CAD) for Manufacture from Aston University, 1987.

He began his career as an AutoCAD technician working with Architects, Structural and Building Services Engineers. In 1992 Anastassios became an Authorised Autodesk Reseller and up until 2008 he was involved in the promotion, sale, implementation, training and support of Autodesk’s CAD, AEC, MEP, BIM and Visualisation software solutions.

In parallel and up towards the time that he joined Benchmarq, Anastassios was also working as an MEP Engineering Consultant. His project portfolio includes MEP design, management and supervision for a wide range of building projects as well as renewable energy projects such as a Ground Source Geothermal Heat Pump design, Wind Park design and licensing, wind and solar source assessment and energy production calculation, Solar PV Farm design, licensing and installation.

Up until recently Anastassios was working as an Electric Utility Network Design Engineer for overhead and underground distribution power lines. At the same time he designed and implemented a number of energy saving solutions for hotel installations.

The primary tools that he uses in his work, among others, are AutoCAD and Revit. His highest achievement in these applications is the development of a custom object application for Electric Powerline Design, using AutoLISP and C++ ObjectARX/DBX.

Lee Crawford - BEng Hons in Mechanical EngineeringSenior Mechanical Engineering Consultant
An adaptable and professional engineer with 12 years experience in engineering, design for manufacture, and product development; built on a foundation of hands‐on manufacturing experience and educational accomplishments.

Lee spent the first part of his career with hands on engineering experience as a welder fabricator, later progressing in to a role as a design engineer following the completion of a mechanical engineering HNC. Following from this, Lee attended Portsmouth University and graduated with a first class BEng Hons in Mechanical Engineering, inspiring a career move to engineering consultation; working alongside a variety of SME’s delivering technical and engineering support in a range of disciplines including:
